<br />AUG-29-2000 TUE 10:03 AM <br /> <br />FAX NO, <br /> <br />p, 03 <br /> <br />CoCoRaHS program (Community Collaborative Rain and Hail Study; web address below) has <br /> <br /> <br />additional daily data from observers in Larimer County in the Drake area. In addition, two <br /> <br /> <br />Cedar Park residents have rain gages and provided data for this storm. Mr, Ed Ostransky at 85 <br /> <br /> <br />Jug Court (phone number provided separately to the National Weather Service) has a Sunbeam <br /> <br /> <br />1,5" x 1" x 8" plastic rain gage. This gage is located about 1/4 mile WSW from the 8M gage. <br /> <br /> <br />Mr. Fred Hess, Cedar Springs Estate, 57 Buff Court also has a rain gage. He recently purchased <br /> <br /> <br />the 2" x 2' gage at a local garden center. He lives about 2 miles NE from Drake, 1 mile north of <br /> <br /> <br />Palisade Mountain, and about 1 mile south of Cedar Springs pond. <br /> <br />The SM gage had a maximum of -1.2 inches in a 60 minute period (12:35 10 1 :35 pm) and a 2. <br /> <br /> <br />hour total of -1.8 inches with a total of 2.4 inches in about 6 hours. Rainfall at the GM gage had <br /> <br /> <br />a maximum 1.hour rainfall of about 0.3 inches (1 :39 to 2;39 pm) with a total of 0.47 Inches <br /> <br /> <br />In about 7 hour. <br /> <br />The maximum CoCoRaHS rainfall for this storm was 2.01 inches for the 24-hour period ending <br /> <br /> <br />at 5:15 am on 8/17 at a site about 2 miles NE from Drake (officially 7.2 miles easl of Glen <br /> <br /> <br />Haven). A CoGoRaHS observer in Drake had 0.27 inches in 24 hours for this storm. Numerous <br /> <br /> <br />olher CoCoRaHS rainfall reports are available near Cedar Park, but 24-hour rainfall amounts <br /> <br /> <br />generally were less than 0.5 inches. <br /> <br />Mr. Ostransky reported 2 inches in about 40 minutes beginning about 12:30 pm, no rain for <br /> <br />about 30 minutes, then 0.5 inches in about 30 minutes ending at 2 pm, and by the morning of <br /> <br />8117 another 0,5 inches was in his gage. The tolal rainfall for Ihis storm was 3 inches. <br /> <br />Mr. Hess reported 4 inches of rain in 24-30 hours ending in the morning on 8/17. He <br /> <br />2 <br />
