Meandering stream at bridge <br /> <br />Braided at low flows <br /> <br />No braids at high flows <br /> <br />Straight reaches between bends <br /> <br />. Wide bends <br /> <br />. Plane bed at all flows <br /> <br />. Sand bed underlain with a hard pan layer <br /> <br />. Channel width is 91-122 m (300 - 400 feet) above 1..5 and 46- <br />76 m (150 - 250 feet) downstream <br /> <br />. Channel deeply incised (4.6 - 6.1 m) (15 - 20 feet deep) <br />above and below the bridges <br /> <br />. Los Gatos Creek normally disappears into an alluvial fan 9.7 <br />krn (6 miles) downstream from 1-5. Flood flow goes into a <br />debris basin upstream of the California Aqueduct, which is <br />12.9 to 14.5 km (8 to 9 miles) downstream. <br /> <br />. There is a railroad bridge about 2.4 km (1,5 miles) <br />downstream of 1-5 and a pipeline crossing near the railroad <br />bridge. The pipeline was exposed during the 1995 flood and <br />the railroad bridge damaged. <br /> <br />4.10 <br />
