The report also includes estimates of the flood damages <br />resulting from the floods in July 1965, which Qrfected some of the <br />areas which had been flooded in June 1965~ and which ,affected some <br />tributary streams not materially affected by the June floods. <br /> <br />e. The report includes several maps to identify the basin streams <br />and the streams on which flooding " occUrred. Selected photographs which <br />illustrate typical flood scenes are included in the appendix to this <br />report. All tables and plates are bound at the back of this report. <br /> <br />5. SOURCES OF INFORMATION <br /> <br />The following sources of information were used in compiling this <br />report. <br /> <br />a. Meteorolo~ic data. <br /> <br />(1) Vol. 70, No.6, Climatological Data, June 1965, published <br />by U. S. Weather Bureau. <br /> <br />(2) Field survey data ("bucket surveys") conducted by the <br />Omaha District Corps of Engineers and Region 7, Bureau of Reclamation. <br />Portions of this data were obtained from the Department of Weather <br />Science, Colorado State University, for precipitation stations estab- <br />lished and maintained by the University. <br /> <br />b. Hydrologic data. Hydrologic data on peak "flood discharges at <br />44 stream locations in the South Platte River basin were obtained from <br />the publication issued by the U. S. Geological Survey, Denver, entitled: <br />"Floods of June 1965 in South Platte River Basin, Colorado and <br />Nebraska - Preliminary Report of Peak Discharge, October 1965." <br />Adjustments in data were based on information published in "Water <br />Resources for Colorado - Part I, Surface Water Resources 1965," <br />U. S. Geological Survey, Denver. <br /> <br />c. Flooding limits. <br /> <br />(1) Limits of flooding, established during and after the <br />flood, were based on field surveys conducted by the Corps of Engineers <br />with the assistance of Region 7, Bureau of Reclamation, together with <br />survey data provided by the city of Denver and the city of Englewood, <br />Colorado. <br /> <br />(2) Aerial photo coverage of flood areas was obtained through <br />cooperative arrangements with Lowry Air Force Base photo laboratory, <br />United States Air Force, Denver, Colorado; the Nebraska Department <br />of Roads, and the Nebraska Air National Guard. A portion of the <br />aerial photo coverage was obtained by contract with Continental <br />Engineers, Inc., Denver, Colorado. Aerial photos were supplemented <br />u.r ground photos taken by Corps of Engineers' personnel. <br /> <br />3 <br />
