Shortly after 'the floods, the Office of Emergency Planning <br />requested the Corps of Engineers to compile estimates of the costs <br />to local governments for flood fighting, debris removal, preservation <br />of public health and restoration of minimum facilities for water supply <br />and sanitation. The estimated cost for these operations totaled <br />$1,341;000 for the South Platte River basin. The Corps of Engineers <br />also supervised and inspected restoration work, principally debris <br />removal from public property in the South Platte River basin, at a <br />cost of $214,900. <br /> <br />23. OPERATIONS OF OTHER FEDERAL AGENCIES <br /> <br />, <br />, <br />; <br />, <br />\ <br /> <br />'- <br /> <br />a. General. Federal agencies other than the Corps of Engineers <br />also were involved in emergency operations and collection of data. The <br />operations of the Office of Emergency Planning and the Corps of <br />Engineers were supported by aircraft provided by the Army at Fort Carson. <br />Photo units at Lowry Air Force Base provided aerial photography of <br />flooded areas. The following subparagraphs briefly describe the <br />activities of participating agencies. <br /> <br />b. Office of Emergency Planning. Immediately after the flood, <br />the Office of Emergency Planning undertook coordination of data <br />collection for defining the scope of the flood disaster and to <br />provide assistance to states, counties and municipalities under the <br />provisions of P.L. 815. ' <br /> <br />c. Bureau of Reclamation. The Burean of Reclamation compiled <br />data on damages to irrigation works and assisted the Corps of Engineers <br />in collecting hydrologic data and flood outline information. <br /> <br />16 <br />
