RESOLUTION

PREVIOUS FLOODPLAIN INFORMATION

WHEREAS, there are no previously designated floodplain studies for the Town of Ignacio;

and

FLOODPLAIN INFORMATION TO BE ACTED ON BY CWCB

WHEREAS, the Federal Insurance Administration published a map entitled "Flood Hazard
Boundary Map, Town ofIgnacio, Colorado" dated January 16,1976; and

e WHEREAS, said Flood Hazard BoU11dary Map contains approximate floodplain
information for the Los Pinos River (pine River) within incorporated portions of the Town of
Ignacio; and

WHEREAS, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps), Albuquerque District completed a
new floodplain information report entitled "Floodplain Delineation Study, Los Pinos River (pine
River) through the Southern Ute Indian Reservation, Colorado" that was completed in January 2001
(FY-1999 project); and

WHEREAS, said new report by the Corps includes detailed floodplain information for the
Pine River in La Plata County, including the Town ofIgnacio; and

WHEREAS, said new detailed floodpl:rin information is much more accurate than
previously published approximate floodplain information contained on said Flood Hazard
Boundary Map; and

LOCAL REOUEST FOR DESIGNATION

WHEREAS, CWCB staff members contacted Town ofIgnacio officials regarding the CWCB's
designation and approval process for floodplaiv. information, and the Town concurred with the
proposed designation action and agreed to transmit a letter to the CWCB staff requesting designation
by the Board; and
