I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 Purposes
The purposes of this Flood Hazard Mitigation Plan are:
a. to document the recent flood problems,
b. to identify general flood hazards in the community,

c. to describe existing efforts to reduce flood damages

in the affected areas,

d. to guide local jurisdictions in taking further

action as may be reasonably expected to enhance

mitigation efforts.

e. to support applications for financial assistance to
implement ideas consistent with community objectives

which will reduce flood damages.

1.2 Scope

I
I
I
I
I
I

This plan identifies opportunities to reduce future damages

from all sources of floods in the community. prompted by the

recent flood problems, the plan attempts to take a comprehensive

look at what is already being done to reduce flood damages and

what action can be taken to make the system work better. 'Future

flooding in the community is inevitable, and this plan should be

reviewed and updated as necessary following each emergency.

ed-2
sill p
