<br />Historic flood records from the foothills indicate that the foothill <br />region below 7,500 feet (2,300 meters) in the Colorado Front Range is <br /> <br /> <br />subject to catastrophic cloudburst rainfalls that may lead to disastrous <br /> <br /> <br />flooding. Such flooding has occurred numerous times at lower elevations in <br /> <br /> <br />this area in the past; however, at any given site on a stream draining this <br /> <br /> <br />area, the frequency of these extraordinary floods is very rare, as <br /> <br /> <br />indicated by the evidence in the lower Big Thompson River basin. <br /> <br />~~ <br />
