<br />FPR 195 / <br /> <br />COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD <br />B23 State Centennial Building <br />1313 Sherman Street <br />Denver, Colorado 80203 <br /> <br />August 16, 1982 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />WHEREAS, A floodplain information report entitled "Flood <br />Hazard Study, South Fork Rio Grande and Rio Grande in the <br />vicini ty of, s<:>uth Fork, Colorado, n dated October, 1980, has been <br />prepared by the U,S. Department of Agriculture, SO,il Conservation <br />Serv ice" at the, request of, Rio Grande County and the' Rio Grande <br />Soil Conservation District; and ' <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said report describes and outlines the floodplain <br />data and information for the storm and" floodwater runoff channels <br />or basins of the study area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Rio Grande <br />County has requested th,e Colorado Water Conservation Board to <br />designate and approve the floodplain areas as set forth in the <br />- aforesai-d-report,-and---- -.-- -- c - - - ,- - ,- - - - _.' - , <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />1973, requires <br />the prevention <br /> <br />Section 37-60-106 ( 1 ) , Colorado Rev ised Statutes <br />the Colorado Water ,Conservation Board to assist in <br />of floods and flOod damages therefrom; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-301 and 30-2B-111, Colorado Revised <br />Statutes 1973, provide that such legislative bodies of local <br />jurisdictions may provide zoning regulations for land uses on or <br />along any' storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin only' after <br />designation and approval by the Colorado Water Conservation <br />Board; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106 ( 1 ) (c), Colorado Revised Statutes <br />1973, directs the Colorado Water Conservation Board to designate <br />and approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or bas ins and to <br />make such designations available to leg islative bodies of local <br />jurisdictions; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the staff of the Board has reviewed said report and <br />does hereby recommend to the Colorado Water Conservation Board <br />that the Board designate and approve as floodplain areas those <br />areas inundated by a 100-year flood' (intermediate reg ional flood) <br />as described by the floodwater surface elevations and profiles in <br />said report; <br />
