<br />. <br /> <br />i <br /> <br />designation action will have to address the reach <br />that is now within Fairplay's corporate limits. <br /> <br />2) An annexation along the southern edge of Fairplay <br />did not include any flood prone areas, <br /> <br />3) A pending annexation in the southeast area of <br />Fairplay includes floodplain along the Middle Fork <br />of the South Platte River on the downstream side <br />of the crossing of U,S, Highway 285, <br /> <br />4) With funding from the Colorado Department of <br />Local Affairs (DOLA) and from the Colorado Office <br />of Emergency Management (OEM), the Town of <br />Fairplay, the Town of Alma, and Park County are <br />undertaking a master planning and mitigation <br />planning effort, Part of that effort will include a "3- <br />mile" annexation plan, examining land currently <br />within unincorporated Park County that might be <br />annexed to Fairplay in the future, That area <br />includes additional floodplain for the river and for <br />Beaver Creek, <br /> <br />Drainaae Master Plan <br /> <br />When we discussed the ongoing master plan, the following issues <br />were pDinted out: 1) the effects of historic dredging associated with <br />mining activity on the Middle Fork of the South Platte River will <br />need to be considered in any hydraulic analyses; 2) the existing <br />culverts and any new culverts on Beaver Creek will be examined <br />for hydrolDgic adequacy after the appropriate flow values have <br />been calculated; 3) the "Town Ditch" drainageway, which flows <br />through the site of the school district's ongoing improvement <br />project in F airplay, is being examined as part of this study; the <br />drainageway is probably better addressed as a local drainage <br />problem area instead of being included as a FEMA floodplain <br /> <br />Improvements to Town's Floodplain Reaulations <br /> <br />Another issue that came up during the discussiDn was the current <br />status of the town's floodplain regulations with regard to ensuring <br />appropriate updating of the FI RM as new development activity <br />occurs.
