<br />Tasks <br /> <br />Project tasks are outlined below in their appropriate sequence: <br /> <br />. Site Reconnaissance - The Engineer would begin with a field investigation <br />of the study reach to review low lying areas, to inspect existing berms and <br />other flood control facilities, to identify and layout survey needs, and to <br />gain a general familiarity with the area. The Engineer will supervise <br />surveys and identify hydraulic parameters and assumptions, <br /> <br />. Cross Section Surveys - A local survey firm would be utilized to obtain the <br />necessary cross section surveys and berm profiles as identified by the <br />Engineer, Surveys would be obtained this month, Low flow estimates would <br />be determi ned from gage data, and wou 'I d then be consi dered in the hydrau 1 i c <br />analysis. <br /> <br />. Data Gathering - Information would be collected from Federal, State, and <br />Local Agencies. The following would be contacted as a min-imum: <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Federa 1 - The Federa 1 Emergency Management Agency, the U.S. Geo 1 og i ca 1 <br />Survey, the Soil Conservation Service, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, <br />the U,S. Army Corps of Engineer's, the U.S, Forest Service, and the <br />National Weather Service. <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />State - The Colorado Water Consel^vation Board, the State Engineer, and <br />the Colorado Division of Highways, <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Local - Mesa County, the City of Grand Junction, and local Water <br />Conservancy Districts.. <br /> <br />Information to be collected would include hydrologic and hydraulic invest- <br />igations such as the present Flood Insurance Studies for Mesa County and <br />Grand Junction, the dam safety inspection reports fOl' upstream reservoirs, <br />precipitation studies, snow surveys, stream monitoring programs, emergency <br />preparedness plans, and design data for stream crossings, Information will <br />also contain the available topographic mapping, orthophotographs, and <br />aerial photography of the recent flood event. <br /> <br />Key people in the investigation will include: <br /> <br />Larry Lang - Colorado Water C:onservat'ion Board <br />Dan Collins - U.S. Geological Survey <br />Gary Shaefer - Soil Conservation Service <br />Bill Lane - U,S.
