<br />The storm cell came from the west at ahout 5-10 miles per hour, dropping heavy rains <br />and hail in some areas and lasted about one and one-half hours, Several streets in the city <br />and county were closed, Interstate 25 in the city area was covered by 2 feet of water, <br />mud and debris, The Central Avenue underpass at 1-25 filled up with 8 fect of water. <br />The Arkansas River overtopped its banks in some places flooding river trails and parks, <br />Some power lines, gas and phone lines were damaged. Storm drain inlcts were clogged <br />with debris, City, county and state crews worked in the dark that morning, before many <br />people realized the extent of the storm and the damage it caused.
