This study is summarized as follows.

The Arkansas River above John Martin Dam Planning Assistance to States study will
address the problem of insufficient channel capacity in three reaches along the Arkansas River
main stem between the Otero/Pueblo County lines and John Martin Reservoir. Factors affecting
channel capacity may include a high groundwater table and sediment contributions from
irrigation canals. The study will recommend structural and non-structural measures to restore
channel capacity and stability, consistent with current environmental policies.

To accomplish the goals of the study topographic and orthographic photography are
required. The CWCB provided the COE with digital topographic data, digital orthophotos, and
plotted mylars for the study area. This data was produced for the CWCB by:

Kucera International, Inc. 38133 Western Parkway, Willoughby, OH 44094
Phone: 440-975-4320

The topographic data was provided in three - 3-D CADD files (.dxf). The digital
orthophotographic data was provided as uncompressed tiffiles and as two, compressed Mr. SID
files.

Specific digital data reviewed by the COE:

I CD containing 2' pixel Mr. SID compressed images & AutoCad RI4 Digital Vector files

Files:

. West. sid " "

There was no metadata provided to the COE, however the following information was taken
from a plotted mylar map of a portion of this data set.

Source photography was flown on May 5, 1998 at a negative scale of I: 15840 by Kucera
West of Wheat Ridge, CO. Coordinates are CSPCS south zone NAD 83. Basis of vertical control
is the 1929 sea level datum.
