<br />There are no known endangered species within the project area. Since no work on this project
<br />will take place in normal hunting areas. hunting pressure and harvest figures are not considered
<br />pertinent and are not included in this application.

<br />DISCUSSION OF ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECTS OF PROJECT
<br />
<br />Although the Big Thompson Canyon is very scenic. none of the geologic conditions noted
<br />within the project are of rare. unique or especially fragile. and none have special cultural or
<br />academic value. The mica schists. gneisses. and granitic rocks underlie (and are exposed
<br />across) many square miles, and are non-fossiliferous.
<br />
<br />The principal geology-related hazards include earthquakes (both ground motion and
<br />ground displacement) and debris slides. The earthquake risk is iudged to be low even
<br />though a major faull, the Big Thompson, trends beneath the generating station site and
<br />neighbors the dam and reservoir site. This faull is a geologically ancient structure for which
<br />no evidence of recent movement has been documented. If an earthquake were to occur
