Covers the <br />United States from 1950 to 1977. Summaries are prepared by <br />the National Weather Service Office of Hydrology from monthly <br />reports submitted by Weather Service field offices (drawing <br />on a variety of county, state, and news media sources). <br />Monthly summaries were discontinued with the December 1977 <br />issue. Annual summaries will appear in the annual issue of <br />Cl.imatol.ogical. Data, National. Summary. Also available are <br />NOAA reports of specific floods summarizing the meteorol- <br />ogical events, flood stages, areas flooded, damage, and <br />warnings issued. The Office <br />of Hydrology keeps files of flood loss data from which the <br />monthly and annual summaries are abstracted.
