<br />DATA RESOURCE <br /> <br />AGENCY <br /> <br />CONTENT <br /> <br />FORMAT <br /> <br />REFERENCE <br /> <br />CONTACT <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE <br /> <br />CENSUS DATA <br /> <br />Bureau of the Census <br /> <br />The Census Bureau collects and publishes statistics on: <br /> <br />population <br />housing <br />agriculture <br />mineral industries <br />construction industries <br />manufacturers <br /> <br />transportation <br />retail trade <br />wholesale trade <br />selected service industries <br />governments <br />foreign trade <br /> <br />Data are developed through censuses and surveys as well as <br />administrative records and estimates programs. The data <br />are available for the United States with varying levels of <br />aggregation from city blocks to the entire nation. <br /> <br />Data are available as printed reports, machine-readable <br />data files and computer programs (e.g., GBF/DIME--geographic <br />data base/dual independent map encoding), maps, microfiche, <br />microfilm, and file printouts. Costs vary from about $5 for <br />reports to about $80 for a magnetic tape.
