<br />The CIty of fort Collins is located about 60 miles -nonh of n",nver in easkrn
<br />Larimer County in north-cenlral Colorado. It is just east of the Rocky Mountain foothills
<br />at an altitude of abo\lt4990 feet, mean wa level (m.s.!.). FOr! Collins is located on the
<br />Cache La Poudre River. Three trihutaries--Boxelder, Spring, and Dry Creeksntlow into
<br />the Cache La Poudre River near the city or within the city limils. The creeks arc
<br />crossed by dozens of transbasill agricultural irrigation canals, which convey flows
<br />through Fort Collins and Larima Coumy. Figure 2~1 shows the Boxeldcr, Spring, b,1ll1

<br />Dry Creek is a left.bank tributary of the Cache La l'oudrc River, Dry Creek flows
<br />south through the n(Jrtheast ponion of fort Collins before joining the Cache La Poudr",
<br />Rivcr south 01 Fort Collins Airpark. The basin i, ~bollt 23 miles long and 3 to 3.5 miles
<br />wide and ha, a drainage area of about 75 square miles. Basin elevations range from
