<br />City's parks and recreation system. Additionally, the City has the permission of the <br />Poudre School District to use school facilities for City recreation programs. <br /> <br />!h~ r~"he La Poudre River. and a trail connecting the Poudre River Trail with urhan <br />growth projected to develop in the northeastern section of the Fort Collins area. <br /> <br />Of the City's 33 parks, 25 are fully developcd. comprising 450 acres. Recreational <br />development is planned at threc addilional parks. <br /> <br />NORTHEAST AREA TRANSPORTATION PLA:'\ <br /> <br />The City has three developed trails, They are the Foothills Trail (5.8 miles), the <br />Poudre River Trail (7 miles), and the Spring Creek Trail (5 miles). The latter two trails <br />are paved. <br /> <br />A transportation study for the Northeast area of the City of Fort Collins was pre- <br />pared in 1992 by a Citizens Advisory Committee for the City of Fort Collins. This <br />transportation study addresses a variety of transportation problems and de velopscon- <br />ceptua! solutions and recommendations. A principal city arterial called the Northeast <br />Arterial isproposcd to function as a downtown bypass for truck traffic, Sewrallocations <br />were developed and arc primarily located in the Dry Creek basin. The City Council has <br />not reached a decision on the altemativefor the northC<\st arterial project, formerly <br />known as the Fort Collins Bypass. <br /> <br />The City has 13 properties identified as open space. These properties comprise <br />approximately 978 acres. Most of these open spaces include water features. <br /> <br />The Sl:rviee areas of four City parks encompass pans of the Dry Creck flood plain. <br />These arc lee Martincl Community Park, which has a ~rviee radius of 1/4 mile, and <br />Alta Vista and Romero Mini Parks, which arc located within the Dry Creek flood plain. <br />Lee ]l.Iartine~, Park is located \licst of Dry Creck.
