The hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for this study were performed
for the Type 19 Flood Insurance Study for Douglas County, Colorado
(Reference 1).

1.3 Coordination

The following sources were contacted for information pertinent to
the Douglas ~unty Flood Insurance Study:

2. U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)
3. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
4. Colorado Water Conservation Board
5. Colorado Department of Highways
6. ~lorado State Historical Society
7. Douglas County Planning Director

Because it was incorporated since the completion of the previous
Flood Insurance Study for Douglas County (Reference 2), it was
decided on September 30, 1985, to prepare a separate study for the
Town of Larkspur.

On May 15, 1986, the results of the study were discussed at the
final community coordination meeting, which was attended by represen-
tatives of FEMA, the study contractor, and the community. All
significant problems raised at that meeting have been addressed in
this study.

2.0 AREA STUDIED

2.1 Scope of Study

This Flood Insurance Study covers the incorporated areas of the
Town of Larkspur, Douglas County, Colorado. The area of study is
shown on the Vicinity Map (Figure 1).

Flooding from East Plum Creek was studied by d~tailed methods from
the northern corporate limits of Larkspur to a point upstream of
Spruce Mountain Road.

The area studied by detailed methods was selected based on the
extent and validity of available hydrologic and hydraulic data.

Flooding from Carpenter Creek and the upstream portion of East
Plum Creek was studied by approximate methods.

Approximate analyses were used to study those areas having a low
development potential or minimal flood hazards.
