As you know, CTl/Thompson, Inc. and Flatiron Companl.. executed our
agreement for geotechnical engineering for the Levee lit Deeps Farm Pit In mid.
January 1997. Since putting the agreement In place we have nearly completed the
field part of the study.

Leonard Rice Consulting Water Engineers, Inc.;

The results of the preliminary field work we completed
previously for Love and Associates, Inc. have been revlewedj

Three test pits havs been excavated through the levee and Into
Ita foundation from the cr..t of the levee with a 42-inch,"
diameter auger. The density of the levee wea measured at
about 2.foot Interva's as the holes were advenced. Bulk
eamplea were taken or the soli. and. were returned to our,
laboratory for teats. The hol.. were backfilled with lean'
conorete;

Four perforated platle pipes were lnHrted Into holes drilled. .
with a 6-inch auger and then sand placed In the annular space
around the pip... One pipe was .et on the creek side and two
. on the lanalde of the lev... One was set from the levee crest;
Permeability teats were performed In the holes by filling the
plpas with water and meaaurlng the rate or faU.

steel casing was grouted into three 6-lnoh diameter holes in
advance of performing paoker teata at the hole loclltlona.
These teste wDl be performed during the week of February 10.
