Flatiron Companies appreciates the opportunity to update the
attendees on the status of its certification efforts for the dike around the Turnpike pit. It also
appreciates the input of the key parties in the process.

To enable us to assist Flatiron Companies in a timely manner with the application for certification
of the berm, we request that you specify the appropriate base flood elevations which should be
used in determining whether three feet of freeboard exist for the dike. Your assistance in
obtaining copies of pertinent information is also requested. As you know, there are at least three
100'year flood profiles for the overbank flood which could affect the dike: 1) the Greenhorn and
O'Mara, Inc. study (1983); 2) the Love and Associates study (1996); and 3) the Taggart and
Associates study (1996). In an effort to be conservative, Flatiron Companies will probably plan
on more than the three feet of freeboard from whatever flood profile you specify.

Water Rights
G round Water
Civil Design and Construction
Water Resources Planning

A

ACEC
