The purpose of these investigations was to evaluate <br /> <br /> <br />the channel roughness characteristics of the flood-plain area and to <br /> <br /> <br />document existing channel conditions. <br /> <br />Field investigations were conducted on April 2, 1981, by personnel <br /> <br /> <br />from Resource Consultants, Inc. The investigations consisted of photo <br /> <br /> <br />documentation of bridges, diversions, and channel and overbank areas. In <br /> <br /> <br />addition, estimates of Manning's roughness coefficients were made for the <br /> <br /> <br />channel and overbank areas based on criteria presented in Table 1. <br /> <br />Fig. 1 shows the locations where photos were taken. Table 2 summar- <br /> <br /> <br />izes the photos at each location and shows the Manning's n values for each <br /> <br /> <br />point. Left and right overbank areas are all referenced looking upstream <br /> <br /> <br />for consistency.
