No. 99 <br /> <br />'\ <br /> <br />COLORADO WATER CO~SERVATION BOARD <br />823 State Centennial Building <br />1313 Sherman Street <br />Denver, Co1o~ado 80203 <br /> <br />March 16, 1978 <br /> <br />R E <br /> <br />S 0 <br />- - <br /> <br />L ]:T 1 <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />N <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the United States Army Corps of Engineers, 'Omaha <br />District, completed in October, 1968, a Floodplain Information,Report <br />entitled "Flood Plain Information, Volume IV, Denver Metropolitan <br />Region, Colorado," which includes South Lakewood Gulch; and <br /> <br />, -WHEREAS, the Colorado Water Conservation Board, as requested <br />by the Denver Regional Council of Governments, by resolution adopted <br />May 7, 1969, approved and designated the floodplains described in <br />said report; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS; a new report entitled "Flood Hazard Area,:pe1ineation, <br />, South Lakewood Gulch, City of LakeYlood, Colorado," dated July, 1977, <br />has been prepared by Wright-McLaughlin Engineers, at the request of <br />the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District and the City of Lakewood, <br />which report updates and revises the previous information for South <br />'Lakewood Gulch as prepared by the Corps of Engineers; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said report describes and outlines the floodplain <br />data and information for the storm and floodwater runoff channels or <br />basins of the study area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District has <br />requested the Colorado Water Conservation Board to designate'and <br />approve the floodplain areas asset forth in the aforesaid report; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1), Colorado Revised Statutes <br />1973, requires the Colorado Water Conservation Board to assist in the <br />prevention of floods and flood damages therefrom; and ' <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Sections ~1-23-20l and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised <br />Statutes 1973, provide that such legislative bodies of local juris- <br />dictions may provide zoning regulations for land uses on or along any <br />storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin only. after designation <br />and approval by the Colorado Water Conservation Board; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1) (c), Colorado Revised Statutes <br />_ _19_73,_directs__the_Colorado Water Conservation Board_ to _designate _and <br />approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or basins and, to make such <br />designations available to legislative bodies of local jurisdictions; <br />and <br /> <br />; <br />r <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the staff of the Board has reviewed said revised <br />report for South Lakewood Gulch and does hereby recommend to the <br />
