. . . INTRODUCTION Authorization The CWCB has certain statutory responsibilities relating to the designation and approval of flood water runoff channels or basins as follows: ... "to devise and formulate methods, means, and plans for bringing about the greater utilization of the waters of the state and the prevention of flood damages therefrom, and to designate and approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or basins, and to make such designations available to legislative bodies of cities and incorporated towns, to county planning commissions, and to boards of adjustment of cities, incorporated towns, and counties of this state"..., Section 37-60-106(l)(c) of the Colorado Revised Statues (CRS). A CWCB designation and approval of current floodplain information is needed for the unincorporated areas of Pueblo County, Colorado. The CWCB has prepared this addendum as a means of designating Pueblo County's AS so that the community can better implement its floodplain management program. Puroose and Scoue The AS for Pueblo County includes both detailed and approximate floodplain information. This Hydrology Addendum was prepared to provide supporting documentation for the approximate 100- year floodplain boundaries shown on the Pueblo County AS, dated October 18, 1977. This FIR includes: I. Authorization for the report and its purpose and scope; 2. Community response to the CWCB designation and approval process; 3. Description of engineering methods; and 4. Floodplain management program Community Resoonse to the CWCB Deshmation and ADDroval Process A letter from the CWCB was transmitted to Pueblo County regarding the Board's proposed action for designation and approval of this Floodplain Information Report and the Pueblo County AS. The County was receptive to the Board's proposed actions, and sent an official letter requesting that the CWCB designate and approve floodplain information currently available to the community. A copy of the request letter is included in the Appendix at the end of this report.
