<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />Authorization <br /> <br />The CWCB has certain statutory responsibilities relating to the designation and approval of flood <br />water runoff channels or basins as follows: <br /> <br />... "to devise and formulate methods, means, and plans for bringing about the greater <br />utilization of the waters of the state and the prevention of flood damages therefrom, and to <br />designate and approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or basins, and to make such <br />designations available to legislative bodies of cities and incorporated towns, to county <br />planning commissions, and to boards of adjustment of cities, incorporated towns, and <br />counties of this state"..., Section 37-60-106(l)(c) of the Colorado Revised Statues (CRS). <br /> <br />A CWCB designation and approval of current floodplain information is needed for the <br />unincorporated areas of Pueblo County, Colorado. The CWCB has prepared this addendum as a <br />means of designating Pueblo County's AS so that the community can better implement its <br />floodplain management program. <br /> <br />Puroose and Scoue <br /> <br />The AS for Pueblo County includes both detailed and approximate floodplain information. This <br />Hydrology Addendum was prepared to provide supporting documentation for the approximate 100- <br />year floodplain boundaries shown on the Pueblo County AS, dated October 18, 1977. <br /> <br />This FIR includes: <br /> <br />I. Authorization for the report and its purpose and scope; <br /> <br />2. Community response to the CWCB designation and approval process; <br /> <br />3. Description of engineering methods; and <br /> <br />4. Floodplain management program <br /> <br />Community Resoonse to the CWCB Deshmation and ADDroval Process <br /> <br />A letter from the CWCB was transmitted to Pueblo County regarding the Board's proposed action <br />for designation and approval of this Floodplain Information Report and the Pueblo County AS. <br />The County was receptive to the Board's proposed actions, and sent an official letter requesting that <br />the CWCB designate and approve floodplain information currently available to the community. A <br />copy of the request letter is included in the Appendix at the end of this report. <br />
