In a letter dated August 4, 1997, Mr. Michael S. Dungan, P.E.,
Project Manager, Muller Engineering Company, Inc., requested that FEMA revise the FIRM to show the
effects of the O'Kane Park and Benton Street detention ponds, channelization, a pipe system from Harlan
Street to Kendall Street, and an updated hydraulic model along First Avenue Tributary to Weir Gulch.

All data required to complete our review of this request were submitted with letters from
Mr. Bill DeGroot, P.E., Chief, Floodplain Management Program, Urban Drainage and Flood Control
District, and Mr. Dungan.

We have completed our review of the submitted data and the flood data shown on the effective FIRM. We
have revised the FIRM to modify the elevations and floodplain boundary delineations of the flood having
a I-percent chance of being equaled or exceeded in any given year (base flood) along First Avenue
Tributary to Weir Gulch. As a result of the modifications, the base flood elevations (BFEs) for First
A venue Tributary to Weir Gulch increased in some areas and decreased in other areas, and the width of
the Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA), the area that would be inundated by the base flood, increased in
some areas and decreased in other areas. The increase in SFHA width from just upstream to approximately
500 feet upstream of Newland Street and from just downstream to approximately 700 feet downstream of
Depew Street is contained in the O'Kane Park and Benton Street detention ponds, respectively. The shift
in SFHA delineations and increase in BFE approximately 400 feet downstream of Newland Street is a result
of updated information. The shift in SFHA delineations approximately 400 feet upstream of Sheridan
Boulevard is also a result of updated information. The modifications are shown on the enclosed annotated
copy of FIRM Panel(s) 0005 C. This Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) hereby revises the above-referenced
panel(s) of the effective FIRM dated January 3, 1983.

The modifications are effective as of the date shown above. The map panel(s) as listed above and as
modified by this letter will be used for all flood insurance policies and renewals issued for your community.
