./ WHEREAS, a floodplain infoj:lllation report entitled "Floodplain
Information Report, Roaring Fork River, Aspen to Basalt, Pitkin County,
Colorado," dated August, 1976, has been prepared by Wright-McLaughlin
Engineers at the request of Pitkin county and the Colorado Water Con-
servation Board; and

WHEREAS, said report descr~bes and outlines the floodplain
data and information for the storm a~d floodwater runoff channels or
basins of the study area; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Coun~y COIIDIlissioners of pitkin County
has requested the Colorado Water Con~ervation Board to designate and
approve the floodplain areas as set forth in the aforesaid report; and

WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1), Colorado Revised Statutes 1973,
requires the Colorado Water Conservation Board to assist in the pre-
vention of floods and flood damages therefrom; and

WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-201 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised
Statutes 1973, provide that such legislative bodies of local juris-
dictions may provide zoning regulations for land uses on or along any
storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin only after designation and
approval by the Colorado Water Conservation Board; and

WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106 (l)(c), Colorado Revised Statutes
1973, directs the Colorado Water Conservation Board to designate and
approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or basins and to make such
designations available to legislative bodies of local jurisdictions;
and

WHEREAS, the staff of the Board has reviewed said report and
does hereby rec~nd to the Colorado Water Conservation Board that the
Board designate and approve as floodplain areas those areas inundated
by a 100-year flood (intermediate regional flood) as described by the
floodwater surface elevations and profiles in said report;
