r.,;,
, . " ."\'"
,I"
, '
.:!
,>

.

Envelope Curves

A more conservative value for the QIOO, Q50 and Q25 can be read from
the envelope curves dated March 3, 1966 found with the cross drainage
studies of the Arkansas Valley Conveyance System (D.P.I. Chief's
letter of March 30, 1966). Those values"are as follows:
, ,

Return Period

Q
Halfmoon
24 sq .m!.

Q
Malta
97 sq.mi.

25
50
100

1050
1380
1800'

1720
2260
2970

The upper end of the 100-year envelope curve is controlled by the
maximum peak at the gage Arkansas River at Granite, adjusted for
transmountain diversions. A copy of the envelope curve above 10
miles is attached. It 'will be noted that the slope of the line
relating discharge to drainage-area-ratio would give an exponent
of about 0.35. '

Conclusion

.

All the various streamflow probability computations and the plotted
results of each are attached. For the time being, the values
developed from the records of gages nearest the points of diversion
are being used as preliminary values.

.

,

------~

Q
