periOd, it is estimated that appro~imately 4900 cfs will flow into the Town
Town of Erie will spill back into the main channel. However, the bulk of the
water will continue through the town and flow back into Coal Creek at the
north end of town (Plate-3). Separate water surface profiles were computed
for this reach (Plate-8), and a separate reference line was added, labeled
Downstream from Briggs Street (Plate-3). the Coal Creek channel bends
northwesterly and flows through a bridge under the Burlington North~rn rail-
rosd. However, since most of the flood ~ater is alre~dy in the flOodplain
area on the east side of the channel, most of the ~atet by-passcs the bridge.
Approximately 1950cfs flows through the bridge and IG,nOds flows along
the eaat side of the railroad to another bridge located 3700 feet north. A
separate reference line l~beled "East Line" haa been provided for this reach.
The railroad designers ~pparently realized this potential for divided flows
and provided a 93 foot long bridge st this locatlon.
