Coastal Barrier Symbol <br />Identifies undeveloped coastal barriers <br />within the Coastal Barrier Resources <br />System established by Section 4 of the <br />Coastal Barrier Resources Act (Pub. L. <br />97,348), As required by the Act, no new <br />flood insurance coverage may be provided <br />after October I, 1983, for new or sub, <br />stantially improved structures on any bar, <br />rier within the Coastal Barrier Resources <br />System, The coasfal barrier symbol ap' <br />pears on a FIRM only when the mapped <br />community includes such barriers, <br /> <br />22. Flood Insurance Zone Designations <br />The zone designations that appear on the <br />FIRM. First FIRM Effective Date (Non, <br />countywide FIRMs OnlYI <br />The date on which a FIRM first became <br />effective for the community, As of that <br />date, the FIRM superseded all previous <br />versions of FEMA flood hazard maps for <br />the mapped community, i.e" FHBMs. <br /> <br />On the FIRM effective date, the mapped <br />community (if participating in the NFIP) <br /> <br />is converted to the Regular Phase of the <br />NFIP.
