WHEREAS, a floodplain information report entitled "F loodplain
Information Report, Crystal River and Coal Creek, Pitkin County,
Colorado," dated October, 1979, has been prepared by Wright Water
Engineers, Inc., at the request of Pitkin county and the Colorado
Water Conservation BOard; and

WHEREAS, said report describes and outlines the floodplain
data and information for the storm and floodwater runoff channels
or basins of the study area; and

WHEREAS, Pitkin County has requested the Colorado Water
Conservation Board to designate and approve the floodplain areas
as set fOrth in the aforesaid r@port; and,

WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106 (1), Colorado Revised Statutes 1973,
requires the Colorado Water Coneervation Board to assist in the
prevention of floods and flood clamages therefrom; and

WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-20! and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised
Statutes 1973, provide that suclt legislative bodies of local
jurisdictions may provide zoning regulations for land uses on or
along any storm or floodwater runoff channel Or basin only after
designation and approval by the Colorado Water Conservation Board;
and

WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106 (1) (c), Colorado Revised Statutes
1973, directs'the Colorado Water Conservation Board to designate
and approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or basins and to
make such designations availabls to legislative bodies of local
jurisdictions; and

WHEREAS. the staff of the Board has reviewed said report and

that the Board designate and approve as floodplain areas those
areas inundated by a lOa-year flood (intermediate regional flood)
as described by the floodwater surface elevations and profiles in
said report;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Colorado Water
Conservation Board in regular meeting assembled in Denver, Colorado,
this 8th day of July, 1980, that it does hereby designate and
approve as floodplain areas those areas described as being inun-
dated by a lOa-year flood as set forth in said report; and
