WHEREAS, a floodplain intormation report entitled "Flood
Hazard Information, Vallecito Creelt, La Plata County, Colorado,"
da~ed April, 1976, has been prepared by the United States Army Corps
of Engineers, Sacramento District ~t ,the request of La Plata County,
Animas Regional Planning Commissio~, the Colorado Land Use Commission,
and the Colorado Water Conservatio~ Board; and '

WHEREAS, said report describes and outlines the floodplain
data and info~tion for the storm and floodwater runoff channels or
basins of tn8 study areas; and '

WHEREAS, the Board of Co~nty Commissioners of La Plata County
and the Animas Regional Planning Commission have requested the Colorado
Water Conservation Board to designSte and approve the floodplain areas
as set forth i~ the aforesaid repo~t; and

WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1), Colorado Revised Statutes 1973,
requires the Colorado Water Conse~ation Board to assist in the pre-
vention of floods and flood damages therefrom; and

WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-201 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised
Statutes 1973, provide that such legislative bodies of local juris-
dictions may provide zoning regulations for land uses on or along any
storm or floo~ater runoff channel or basin only after designation and
approval by the Colorado Water Conservation Board; and

WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1) (c), Colorado Revised Statutes
1973, directs the Colorado Water Conservation Board to designate and
approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or basins a~d to make such
designations available to legislative bodies of local jurisdictions;
and

WHEREAS, the staff of the Board has reviewed said report and
does hereby recommend to the Colorado Water Conservation Board that the
Board designate and approve as floodplain areas those areas inundated

floodwater surface elevations and profiles in said report;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Colorado Water Conser-
vation Board in regular meeting assembled in Denver, Colorado, this
19th day of January, 1977, that it does hereby designate and approve
as floodplain areas those areas described as being inundated by a
100-year flood as set forth in said report; and
