<br />Field Investigation Concerns <br /> <br />FIELD INVESTIGATION CONCERNS <br /> <br />PROPERTY INSPECTION AND <br />EXISTING DATA REVIEW <br /> <br />During the field investigation, the designer should inspect <br />the property and review existing data to confirm the appli- <br />cability of the selected alternative and to confirm specific <br />design guidance such as the height of elevation and type of <br />foundation to be utilized. The designer should utilize the <br />guidance presented in the beginning of this chapter where <br />detailed information and checklists for the collection of <br />information on the Structural, Mechanical, Plumbing, and <br />Electrical Systems was presented, Much of the data has <br />been discussed previously in Chapters III and IV. At a <br />minimum, the designer should collect information on the <br />following checklist (Figure VI-E25). <br /> <br />CODE SEARCH <br /> <br />During the field investigation the designer should also <br />conduct a search oflocal floodplain ordinances, building <br />codes, restrictions to deeds, restrictions in subdivisions, <br />zoning regulations, and state building codes. Included with <br />this search, a visit with the local building official should be <br />planned to determine any special requirements for the <br />locality, During the code search, the following should be <br />determined: <br /> <br />. floodplain ordinance; <br /> <br />. building code in effect; <br /> <br />, design wind speed; <br /> <br />, design seismic zone; <br /> <br />Engineering Principles and Practices of Retrofitting Flood-Prone Residential Structures <br />January 1995 <br /> <br />VI - E.31 <br />
