.

INTRODUCTION

This document is prepared as a revision to the original document titled "Flood Hazard
Mitigation Study, Hazard Mitigation Grant Application" for the Town of Wiley,
Colorado, completed by Kiowa Engineering in January, 1998. This revision is to include
the replacement of the highway bridge structure in lieu of construction ring levees around
existing residential subdivisions and channel improvements upstream and downstream of
the new bridge.

The originally selected alternative for the Town of Wiley was the only financially
feasible alternative at the time, but was considered unpopular with those residences of the
subdivisions to be enclosed within the levee systems. Since the time of the original
application, a cost -sharing proposal with the Colorado Department of Transportation has
been formulated. Local officials and residents fully support the bridge replacement
alternative.

The highway bridge replacement is to be engineered and designed by the Colorado
Department of Transportation and will be constructed entirely on state right-of-way
property.

.

Only those revisions to the original grant application where changes in the documentation
have occurred are included in this document. Existing condition hydraulics and
hydrology data are located in the technical attachments of the original application.

l' .
i:
