<br /> <br />2. Any feature not listed in the special <br />provisions that the Contractor considers <br />a controlling factor for timely com- <br />pletion. <br />3. The time span of construction activities <br />for each salient feature, and its relation- <br />ship in time to other salient features. <br />4. The total anticipated time necessary to <br />complete all work required under the <br />Contract. <br />5. Sufficient space' for each salient feature <br />to permit two additional plots parallel to <br />the original time span plot, one for a <br />revision of the planned time span, and <br />one showing actual time spans achieved. <br />(b) The Methods Statement shall be a narrative <br />description of the activities displayed in the <br />Comprehensive Bar Chart. It shall contain <br />details as follows: <br />1. A description of the activities within <br />each salient feature including methods to <br />be employed, <br />2. A description of activities within each <br />salient feature, related to the location on <br />or off of the project where these activities <br />will occur. <br />3. An estimate of the time during which a <br />salient feature is inactive or partially <br />inactive. This estimate shall show the <br />beginning and ending dates of the re- <br />duced production or inactivity. <br />4. The anticipated delivery dates for equip- <br />ment or materials in any salient feature <br />that can affect timely completion of the <br />project. <br />5. Critical completion dates for any activity <br />within any salient feature to maintain <br />the progress indicated in the Progress <br />Schedule. <br />All information on the Methods Statement is <br />proprietary and shall be kept confidential. <br />Within two weeks after the Contractor's specified <br />progress estimate day, if requested by the Engineer, <br />a copy of the comprehensive bar chart showing the <br />status of work actually completed to that date. The <br />Engineer may provide copies of the Contractor's <br />comprehensive bar chart to other affected Con- <br />tractors working within the project's area of in- <br />fluence. <br />Should the prosecution of the work be discontinued <br />for any reason, the Contractor shall notify the <br />Engineer at least 24 hours in advance of resuming <br />operations. <br />Meetings may Qe required to review progress and <br />plan upcoming activitiell. The meetings may be <br />requested by either the Engineer or the Contractor. A <br />mutually agreed time, date, and location shall be <br />determined for each meeting. Problem areas such as <br />substantial deviations from the Project Schedule, <br /> <br />and methods for returning to the planned schedule <br />will be discussed. <br />Payment for Progress Schedule preparation or <br />revision will not be paid for separately but shall be <br />included in the work. <br /> <br />108.04 Limitation of Operations. The Con- <br />tractor shall conduct the work in a manner and <br />sequence as to assure the least interference with <br />traffic. The Contractor shall not open up work to the <br />prejudice or detriment of work already started. The <br />Engineer may require the Contractor to finish a <br />section of work before starting any additional <br />sections if the opening of a section is essential to <br />public convenience. <br /> <br />108.05 Character of Workers; Methods and <br />Equipment. The Contractor shall employ re- <br />sources for completing the work to full completion in <br />the manner and time required by the Contract. <br />All workers shall have skill and experience to <br />perform the work assigned to them. <br />Any person employed by the Contractor or by any <br />subcontractor who does not perform the work in a <br />proper and skillful manner shall, at the written <br />request of the Engineer, be removed by the Con- <br />tractor or subcontractor and shall not be employed <br />on the project without the approval of the Engineer. <br />Should the Contractor fail to remove this person or <br />persons or fail to furnish skilled and experienced <br />personnel for the proper prosecution of the work, the <br />Engineer may suspend the work by written notice <br />until compliance is achieved. <br />All equipment used on the project shall be of size <br />and mechanical condition to meet requirements of <br />the work and to produce a satisfactory quality of <br />work. Equipment used shall not cause injury to the <br />roadway, adjacent property, or other highways. <br />When the methods and equipment to be used are <br />not prescribed in the Contract, the Contractor shall <br />use any methods or equipment that will accomplish <br />the contract work in conformity with the Contract <br />requirements. <br />When the methods and equipment, to be used are <br />specified in the Contract, other methods and equip- <br />ment shall not be used in the performance of the work <br />unless the Contractor receives written authorization <br />from the Engineer. <br />If the Contractor desires to use a method of equip- <br />ment other than specified in the Contract, the Con, <br />tractor may request approval from the Engineer. The <br />request shall include a full description of the <br />methods and equipment proposed to be used and the <br />Contractor's explanation for the proposed change. <br />The Contractor shall be fully responsible for pro- <br />ducing work in conformity with contract require- <br />ments. If the substituted methods or equipment do <br />not produce results conforming to contract require- <br />ments, the Contractor shall complete the remaining <br />construction with the originally specified methods <br /> <br />29 <br />
