<br />The study area is developing rapidly The 1996 Comprehensive Plan lor the Town of Erie (Town of Erie
<br />Planlllng Commission, 1996) estimates the population was approximately 4,000 individuals in the 50 square
<br />mile Planning Area surrounding the Town in 1996, The Comprehensi\'e Plan projects a population of
<br />approximately 20,000 by the year 2020 and approximately 30,000 people by year 2045 in the Planning
<br />Area Existing (complete or under construction) and propo.cd (those mentioned by Erie officials as of
<br />:-.1arch, 2000) developments are listed on Table 1.
