I N T ROD U C T ION

A.) Scope of Work

The purpose of this study was to conduct an in-depth study

of the Big Dry Creek Drainage Basin in order to determine the

best Drainageway Master Plan for the basin. To arrive at this

"best plan" it was imperative that all possible sourceS of

existing data be researched and that all possibilities for major

drainageway improvements be evaluated. Three plans were prepared

for evaluation. Final selection of the "best plan" waS made by

the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District and other partici-

pating entities. This plan includes a complete drainage master

plan for approximately 7.5 miles of the Big Dry Creek Basin in

Englewood, Greenwood Village, Littleton, and Arapahoe County and

flood plain delineation for the IOO-year frequency flood for

approximately 7.8 miles of the Big Dry Creek Basin in Douglas

COllnty.

The context of this report is presented In SIX sections

covering a wide spectrum of topics necessary to insure a drainage

master plan which is in the best interests of the involved enti-

ties. Each section of the report is divided into several parts

to insure compliance with the services required by the Contract

Agreement for preparation of this drainage master plan. A

su~nary of the contents of each section of the report follows.

- J-
