Specifically, this responds
to a letter dated February 22, 1994, from Mr. Dennis E. Arbogast, P.E.,
Project Manager, Wright Water Engineers, Inc., regarding the effective Flood
Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) for the City of Lakewood, Colorado. Mr. Arbogast
requested that we .revise the effective FIRM to show the effects of updated
topographic information, removal of a single culvert, installation of a five-
cell box culvert, and construction of a floodwall at the upstream side of
West 20th Avenue along the east side of Lena Gulch.

All data required to complete our review of this request were submitted with
letters dated February 22 and April 8, 1994.

Because this Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) shows the effects
sponsored flood-control project that reduces flooding
development, fees were not assessed for the review.

of a publicly
to existing

We have completed our review of the submitted data and the flood data shown
on the effective FIRM, and have revised the FIRM to modify the elevations and
floodplain boundary delineations of a flood having a l-percent probability of
being equaled or exceeded in any given year (base flood) along Lena Gulch
from the Maple Grove Reservoir upstream to approximately 1,700 feet upstream
of West 20th Avenue.

As a result of updated topographic information, specifically, the modeling of
the Rocky Mountain Ditch Flume downstream of West 20th Avenue, base (lOO-
year) flood elevations (BFEs) and the Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) are
increasing. As a result of the removal of a single culvert, installation of
a five-cell box culvert, and construction of a floodwall, BFEs and the SFHA
are decreasing from West 20th Avenue to approximately 1,700 feet upstream of
West 20th Avenue.
