<br />FLOOD INSURANCE STUDY <br />CITY AND COUNTY OF DENVER, COLORADO <br /> <br />1,0 INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />1.1 <br /> <br />Purpose of Study <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />This Flood Insurance Study revises and updates a previous Flood <br />Insurance Study/Flood Insurance Rate Map for the City and County <br />of Denver, Colorado, This information will be used by the City <br />and County of Denver to update existing floodplain regulations as <br />part-of the Regular Phase of the National FloOd Insurance Program <br />(NFIP), The information will also be used by local and regional <br />planners to further promote sound land use and floodplain <br />development. <br /> <br />.' <br /> <br />In some states or communities, floodplain management criteria or <br />regulations may exist that are more restrictive or comprehensive <br />than the minimum Federal requirements. In such cases, the more <br />restrictive criteria take precedence and the State (or other <br />jurisdictional agency) will be able to explain them. <br /> <br />1.2 Authority and Acknowledgments <br /> <br />The sources of authority for this <br />National Flood Insurance Act of <br />Protection Act of 1973. <br /> <br />Flood Insurance Study are the <br />1968 and the Flood Disaster <br /> <br />The hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for this study were <br />performed by Gingery Associates, Inc., for the Federal Emergency <br />Management Agency (FEHA) , under Contract No. H-4549. This study <br />was completed in June 1981. <br /> <br />Revised hydraulic analyses for Clear Creek, Bear Creek, and Weir <br />Gulch were performed by Dames & Moore for FEHA under Contract No. <br />C-0542. <br /> <br />Revised hydraulic analyses for the South Platte River were <br />provided for FEMA by the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District <br />(UDFCD) and were completed in September 1987, <br /> <br />.' <br /> <br />Revised hydraulic analyses <br />Avenue Tributary, and Coon <br />Associates, Inc., and Drexel <br />and completed in June 1989. <br /> <br />for Weir Gulch, Weir Gulch Dakota <br />Creek were performed by Love and <br />Barrell Engineers/Surveyors, Inc., <br /> <br />Revised hydraulic analyses for Marston Lake North were performed <br />by WRC Engineering, Inc., and Rocky Mountain Consultants, Inc. <br />(RMC), and completed in October 1989, <br />
