Residents faced mud <br />and water filled basements, eroded and <br />debris covered lawns, exposed foundations, <br />and lost fences. One resident reported <br />nearly six feet of mud and water in the <br />basement of his home. A few homes <br />suffered damage to electrical outlets, <br />damage to or destruction of furnaces, water <br />heaters, washers and dryers and other <br />personal items stored in basements. <br /> <br />There are four basic ways flood waters fmd <br />their way into a basement - according to the <br />Home and Business Guide for the <br />Mitigation of Flooded Basements, (OEM, <br />June, 1993). <br /> <br />II <br />
