Precipitation

The average annual precipitation for the upper Clear Creek
basin is approximately 14.8 inches with 70 percent of it
occurring during the 6-month period from April through
September. The largest annual precipitation amount recorded at
the Georgetown station was 22.5 inches in 1957; the least amount
of precipitation recorded at the Georgetown station was 8.3
inches in 1962.

Snowfall amounts average approximately 78 inches per season
with season extremes ranging from a low of 32 inches to a high
of more than 157 inches.

Temperature and precipitation records and means for the
Georgetown gage are summarized in Table 1.

Streamflow Records

The climate and precipitation data used in this study were
collected at the National Weather Service station at Georgetown.
Data used in the discharge frequency analysis were collected at
the Lawson and Golden V.S.G.S. gaging stations on Clear Creek.
The Lawson gaging station is located 2.0 miles downstream from
the West Fork confluence with Clear Creek and has a period of
