The Direct Translation and Convex methods are prE~sented in the
USDCM, Volume.1 "Runoff". The last three methods are more
accurate; however these methods require the utilization of a high
speed computer. Comput;er programs, such as t;he EPA Stormwater
Management Model (SWMM:I which incorporates the kinematic wave
method, are available to route flows through channels, pipes and
detention ponds and arE~ recommended for utilization within the
ci ty . Of the remaining methods, the Muskingum ml~thod is simi lar to
the Convex method and the Storage-DischargE~ ml~thod is less
convenient for hand cal.::ulations than the Dir'~ct Translation or
Convex methods. other computer programs capable of routing flows
through stormwater conveyance channels and det.ention ponds will be
reviewed by the City and written approval must bE~ ob1:ained prior to
utilization.

4-4

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
