A comparison of the u.s. Army Corps of Engineers flood profiles to those
shown in the Flood Insurance Study reveal two areas where the IOO-year
flood elevations differ by more than 0.5 foot. The first area of discre-
pancy is at n.s. Highway 85. The reason for the discrepancy at this
location is due to the way Lathurn Ditch was analyzed. The policy of the
Federal Insurance Administration is not to consider irrigation ditches
in the hydraulic analysis. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers analysis
considered the Lathurn Ditch as an additional flow area, which the Flood
Insurance Study analysis did not, resulting in a smaller effective flow
area and higher water-surface elevation being shown for the Flood Insurance
Study. The second area of discrepancy is approximately 1 mile upstream of
Evans. The reason for the discrepancy is additional cross sections were
used in this Flood Insurance study, resulting in more accurate elevations
of the flood heights.

This study is authoritative for the purposes of the Flood Insurance
Program; data presented herein either supersede or are compatible with
all previous determinations.

7.0 LOCATION OF DATA

Survey, hydrologic, hydraulic, and other pertinent data used in this
study can be obtained by contacting the office of the Federal Insurance
Administration, Regional Director, ~oom 311, 909 17th Street, Denver,
Colorado 80202.

8.0 BIBLIOGRAPHY AND REFERENCES

1.
