Zone [1..7:

Special Flood Hazard Areas inundated by
the lOO-year flood, determined by
detailed nethods; base flood elevations
shown, and zones subdivided according
to Flood Hazard Factors.

Zone B:

Areas between the Special Flood Hazard
Areas and the limits of the SOD-year
flood, including areas of the SOO-year
flood plain that are protected from the
lOO-year flood by dike, levee, or other
water control structure; also areas
subject to certain types of lOO-year
shallow flooding where depths are less
than 1.0 foot; and areas subject to
lOO-year flooding from sources with
drainage areas less than 1 square mile.
Zone B is not subdivided.

Zone C:

Areas of ~inimal flooding.

The flood elevation differences, Flood Hazard Factors, flood insur-
ance zones, and base flood elevations for each flooding source
studied in detail in the community are sUMmarized in Table 3.

5.4 Flood Insurance Rate ~~ap Description

The Flood Insurance Rate Hap for the City of Evans is, for insurance
purposes, the principal result of the Flood Insurance Study. ~his
map (published separately) contains the official delineation of
flood insurance zones and base flood elevation lines. Base flood
elevation lines show the locations of the expected whole-foot water-
surface elevations of the base (lOO-year) flood. This map is
developed in accordance with the latest flood insurance map prepara-
tion guidelines published by the Federal Insurance Administration.

6.0 OTHER STUDIES

A Flood Insurance Study for the unincorporated areas of Weld County,
Colorado (Reference 10), is being prepared in conjunction with this
Flood Insurance Study. ~esults in both studies are in complete agree-
ment.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recently published a Special Flood
Hazard Information Report for the South Platte River (Reference S), which
is a study of the South Platte River in Weld County to compare the 1973
flood to the IOO-year flood. The information provided varies from stage-
discharge relationships at each cross section in the rural areas to
water-surface profiles in the urban areas. The report contains flood
profiles in the Evans area of the 10-, SO-, 100-, and SOO-year floods.

13
