<br />Flood Mitigation Plan <br />Town of Do}o-:-es <br /> <br />1. lntroduction <br /> <br />1.1 Purpose and Scope of Repoct: <br /> <br />A significant portion of the town of Do~ores :ies <br />~ithin the 100-year floojplain of the Doloces River. <br />Portions of the town have recently received levee protection <br />as a part of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation's McPhee <br />Reservoir project, imrnedi ately c~?wnstre'am of Dolores. There <br />are, however, still several paths for floodwaters to <br />:>verflow into town and flood much of Dolores. The purnose <br />~f this report is to review the current flood hazard i~ <br />Jolores and to develop a means for addressing t~e t~~~at <br />:?osed to the town by a 100-year ~looa. The repo~t reviews <br />steps that have already been taken to reduce the flood <br />threat and options fo~ further reduction or elimination. <br />'rhe only type of long-term option is levee protection. <br />Floodproofing or flood insurance will not prevent flooding, <br />however, both flood mitigation measures will assist in <br />lessening the economic impact of flood. <br /> <br />After the options have been 6iscussed, an~ thei~ <br />estirnateo costs presentee, thE; l~e?Ort recommenc:s which <br />I~p~ions should be pursued~ It des=~ibes possible phasing o~ <br />the recommenoed course of act:~on ana :o:)te:1tia~ :l.::nc~i~g <br />sources.
