(Stations 68+00 to 71+JO) - 300 feet of "soft
berrning.'! This section would cross t~e nort~1 0dqe of
the town park. To raise the high ground a, average of
1.5 foot, the park would be recontoured wittl a berm
that was consistent with the use o~ the site for
recreational purposes. ht t~e east end natllral ground
is already 2 feet above t~e 100-year flood e:evation.
so the recontouring would be tapered to tie into that
natural ground (See cross-section A-A).

Alternative B

This alternative includes the reconstruction of the
eKisting levee system which is severely eroded at a number
oE locations. The levee along the north riverbank would be
c()ntinued east to the southeast cor~e~ of the Dolores ~]ate~
T:~eatment Facility; thence, it would turn 909 to the north
to tie into the south edge of Eighway 145. A levee
description is as follows:

(Stations 66+00 to 78+40) - 1240 feet of existing levee
will have to be reconstructed. The heiaht will average
from 10.5 feet along the town park; 4 feet adjacent to
the new water treat~ent plant~ and 8 feet alc)ng the
water treatment pan6s (See cross section B-B:.

(Stations 78~40 to 82+40) - 400 feet of ~ew Jevee at an

average height 0= 6 =ee~~

~his levee sec~ior lies

between the water treatment ~acili~y an6 the mo~~le
home park ~o i~s eas~, ~unning north f~om th~ r~ve~bank
to Highway 145 (See cross-sec~ion A-A).

4.2.

Desc~i?tion 0: ~e:t (SOC":::l)) E~~::k: ~evee.

On the south si6e of the DoloreE River upstream o~ ~he ~th
Street IJridge is an area 1000 ~eet Ions where floodwaters wou16
leave t}le channel and inundate a number ~f properties. ~wo

structu]~al alternatives were conside=ed for this a~ea. One
alterna~:ive is the construction of 1000 feet of new lev'2€ with
~hree fE!et of freeboard, and the othe~ is ~o build a levee ~o the

-13-
