<br />PROJ EC'r BENEFI'rS <br /> <br />The Town of Olathe is located in the Uncompahgre River <br /> <br /> <br />floodplain and a large portion of the town is located within the <br /> <br /> <br />limit of the lOO-year zone. Upon completion of the proposed <br /> <br /> <br />plan-of-improvement, the town will enjoy the following benefits: <br /> <br />Floodprone lands upstream of Church Avenue will be provided <br />lOO-year flood protection. <br /> <br />River will be stabilized in its present alignment. <br /> <br />Existing channel capacity will be stabilized. <br /> <br />Public utilities will be protected from flood risks. <br /> <br />Emergency flood protection measur~s will be maximized. <br /> <br />Community will not have to remove the 1984 emergency flood <br /> <br />protection measures. <br /> <br />Annual expenditures for flood m:Lt.iqation measures will be <br /> <br />greatly reduced. <br /> <br />Annual expenditures for flood insurance by low income <br />persons will be reduces. <br /> <br />Opportunity to expansion the communities recreational <br />programs will be afforded. <br /> <br />-19- <br />
