II. INTRODUCTION

The analysis within this report is based on a set of seven years

(1966-1972) of detailed daily averages of streamflow at seven tribu-

taries to Gore Creek. The location of stream gages is shown on the

I

reference terrain maps in both Figs. 1 and 2.

Temperature and precipitation data were not available within the water-

I

shed area and have been estimated from other reference location~ several

of which are identified in Figs. 1 and 2.

I

Hourly observations. of precipitation and streamflow, plus daily preci-

I

pitation values occurring in the San Juan mountains area of southwestern

Colorado, also have been used to develop summer time potential runoff

I

from thunderstorms in July and August in contrast to general storms

which are important in southwestern Colorado during September and

I

October.
