PROJECT BENEFITS The Town of Crook is located in the South Platte River floodplain and the entire community is subject to inundation by a 100-year flood event. upon completion of the proposed plan-of-improvement. the town and surrounding community will enjoy the following benefits: o Floodprone lands upstream of Colorado Highway No. 55 will be provided flood protection. o The Town of Crook will receive protection from flooding. o The drainage channel will provide a means of lowering the underground water level. o The infiltration of foreign waters into the sewage lagoons will be reduced. o This is a multi-purpose project. RECOMMENDATIONS The study reach has been subjected to severe surface and sub-surface flooding in the 1960's, 1970's, and 1980's and have posed serious flooding problems to the residents of Logan County and the Town of Crook. The flood mitigation measures will enhance the quality of life and will assist the people in improving the economy of the region. The project is a community effort of the CDOH. Logan County. Town of Crook, and landowners. The entities will cost-share in the project cost for the benefit of all. -4-
