<br />SECTION VI <br /> <br />SUMMARY OF PHASE A STUDY <br /> <br />PRELIMINARY MEETINGS A~D DATA GATHERING <br /> <br />Preliminary meetings were held with all groups concerned in the <br />master planning contract for Sanderson and weir Gulches, Th8 <br />meetings provided direction and coordination for the progression <br />of the study. <br /> <br />Separate meetings were held with Denver, Lakewood and Jefferson <br />County. In Denver, coordination for the project came through <br />the offices of the Wastewater Control Division. All preliminary <br />meetings, however, provided input from engineering, planning, <br />management, parks and recreation and traffic offices. Meetings <br />held with the City of Lakewood, which were handled through <br />the Department of Community Services, also reflected input from <br />engineering, pl..nning, ?<lrks and recct'ation and leg<l1. Jefferson <br />County administrative offices were also kept updated on the pro- <br />grcssion of the study. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />Field survey information on the three gulches which <br />included topography and channel cross-sect~on com~leted <br />by the City of Denver for the Corps of EngLneers Ln <br />1961. <br /> <br />4. Land status along the gulches. <br /> <br />5. Topography and facilities of the Agricultural Ditch and <br />Reservoir Company. <br /> <br />6. State highway plans at gulch crossings. <br />7. Projected city arterial street plans. <br />8, City of Denver flood plain maps for Sanderson and Weir <br />Gulches through Denver. <br />9. Available recorded rainfall and runoff data for the <br />metropolitan area. <br /> <br />10. Subdivision plans Which have or will effect the drainage <br />system operation. <br /> <br />The collection of all this information greatly assisted in the <br />progression and completion of the master planning study. <br /> <br />Review and progress meetings were held with the District, Denver, <br />Lakewood and Jefferson County. Subdivision Engineers and Planners. <br /> <br />Following the procedures outlined in Calculation Methods Used . <br />for Damage Potential Anulysis in Section IV, the dam~ge potent La 1 <br />in dollars was determined for each storm occurrence ~nterval. <br /> <br />Alternative plans for eliminating or minimizing the damage <br />potential were next evaluated. The alternatives considercd <br />for possible ~pplication included: <br /> <br />The information obtained through contacts and meetings with these <br />organizations in every c~~e had som~ ~ffect nn ~hp st~tus of <br />the gulches. Some of the items of data which were collected <br />include the following: <br /> <br />1. Corps of Engineers flood plain studies for portions <br />of Sanderson, No. Sa~derson and Weir Gulches. <br /> <br />2.
