Antroduction
~he CWCB staff is requesting funding for the Integrated Water Information Center in the amount of $275,000
to be used to (1) finish preparation, indexing and scanning of remaining documents into the CWCB hnaging
System, (2) to cover the CWCB's share of the annual operations and maintenance cost of the DNR Electronic
Document hnaging System for the next three years, and (3) continued upgrade, maintenance and operating costs
of the training and office space.

Background
The Integrated Water Information Center (IWIC), a combination of the Water Resource Information Center, the
CWCB hnaging System and the Colorado Decision Support System (CDSS), will provide public and agency
access to the myriad ofCWCB's water-related records.

The WRIC was authorized by the General Assembly in 1993 to "assemble and make available to water users in
Colorado a consolidated water resources information center" (Sec. 6, HB 93-1273). In November of 2000 the
CWCB secured office space at 1580 Logan Street next to the Colorado Water Congress office to house the
WRIC's bound volumes.

The CWCB hnaging Project, initiated in 1999 with the adoption of SB99-173, is a participant in the Department
of Natural Resource's Electronic Document hnaging System. Since inception of the project, the CWCB has
purchased and installed the hardware and software, contracted for customized programming, and imaged most
_fthe CWCB's existing documents.
