5. Staff Activities

Mr. Crawford then reported on the activities of the staff
as follows:

ACTIVITIES OF STAFF

1. North Platte Land check. Ruford and Colburn have spent
much time on this since about the middle of. June.

2. Gildersleeve has been devoting a large rart of his tiEe to
the A~~ Basin report and has attended the Inter-Agency
meetin~s which have occurred each month.

3. Crawford, Tipton and Chilson visited the Cliffs-Divide
units on the 8th and 9th of July.

4. Crawford and Gildersleeve visited the F rui tland Mesa
and other. Gunnison River units in the vicinity of Delta on
July 13th on the invitation of Mr. Peterson.

5. Crawford in Washington with Tipton in connection with the
Upper Colorado River Storage Bill on the 22nd, 23rd and 24ul
of July.

6. Cra\>ford, Gildersleeve and Colburn in Lamar on July 26th
in attendance at the meeting of Arkansas River Compact
Administra tion.

7. Tipton and Crawford in G~~nison and Montrose on August 9th
and 10th on a visit to the units of the Gunnison River project.

8. The Director attended a meeting of the Southeastern
Colorado Water Development Association in Pueblo and was
accompanied by Mr. Walter of Region 7 of the Bureau of
Reclamation Service.

9. The Director ,attended a meeting in Denver of the Legal
Subco~~ittee of the Ground Water Committee.

10. On August 31st, the Director called a meeting of the
Steering Co~~ittee, which had not met siDce 1951. In addition
to Crawford, the follovdng attended: Tipton, Chilson, Riter,
Walter and Jerman substituting for Olsen.

11. Gildersleeve made a trip to Grand Junction to confer with
Mr. Merriell relative to making a survey of irrigated lands on
Western Slope. He later spent considerable time investigating
this problem.
